Specialty + Institution: Interventional Radiology, McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University
About me: I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, and earned my degree in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M before moving to Chicago to join Northwestern’s Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD). During my PhD in Biomedical Engineering, I focused on developing novel therapeutics and translational technologies for human disease. My academic interests include therapeutic development, medical device design, and bringing innovative technologies to patient care. Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring local coffee shops and farmers markets, and catching up on reality TV.
Why Resurrection: I chose Resurrection because it offers the opportunity to care for patients in a diverse community setting while building a strong foundation in clinical medicine. As I prepare for a career in Interventional Radiology, I wanted a program that would help me develop strong clinical judgment, procedural skills, and a patient-centered approach to care. The supportive learning environment and dedicated faculty have made Resurrection an ideal place to grow during this important year of training.
Medical School: University of Illinois Chicago
Specialty + Institution: Dermatology, Loyola
About me: I am originally from Seoul, South Korea, but grew up in the Chicago area. While I was away in St. Louis where I did my undergrad at WashU, I ultimately returned to Chicago for medical school because of everything I love about the city—from its incredible food scene and vibrant neighborhoods to walking along the Lakefront Trail, as well as being close to family and friends. Outside of medicine, I enjoy traveling, exploring new restaurants, and staying active. I am also a certified barre instructor and have been teaching in Chicago ever since I moved back. I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the Resurrection Medical Center family and excited for the year ahead.
Why Resurrection: Res was my very first residency interview, and I remember being nervous going into it. However, everyone I met was so welcoming, friendly, and supportive that I immediately felt at ease. The positive atmosphere and sense of community really stood out to me. I was also drawn to the opportunity to stay close to home while training, as well as the flexibility of the program, which allows me to pursue interests outside of medicine and maintain balance during residency.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking at state and national parks, movies, and spending time along the lakefront.

Medical School: Saint Louis University School of Medicine
Specialty + Institution: Diagnostic Radiology at Northwestern
About me: I grew up on the North Side of Chicago before attending the University of Notre Dame, where I studied finance. While working as a student athletic trainer in college, I developed an interest in medicine that ultimately led me to complete a post-baccalaureate program at George Washington University and attend medical school in St. Louis. I am excited to be back in Chicago, closer to family, and to begin training alongside my wife at Northwestern. Outside of medicine, you’ll usually find me on the golf course, playing tennis, or riding my bike through the northern suburbs. I am also a diehard fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Notre Dame football.
Why Resurrection: I chose Resurrection because of its strong and broad clinical training, which I know will prepare me well for the rest of my residency. I also heard great things about the program from former residents, particularly about the supportive culture and the opportunities to grow as a physician. My interview day confirmed those impressions and made me excited to join the Resurrection family for my intern year.
Medical School: University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine
Specialty + Institution: Diagnostic Radiology at University of Southern California
About me: After growing up and going to medical school in Florida, I am incredibly excited to begin my new chapter as a resident physician in Chicago! I’ve already found it so easy to build community in this beautiful city. When I’m not in the hospital, I enjoy writing and producing music, exercising (especially Pilates), reading + hammocking in a park, or baking healthy desserts. Right now, I’m focused on soaking up the Chicago summer by hitting as many patios and parks as I can. And I’m feeling hopeful that I can survive a Chicago winter before heading out to sunny Los Angeles for radiology residency!
Why Resurrection: Even while interviewing at Resurrection, it was easy to see that this is a special place. It is full of physicians that truly know and care about their patients. I really value how collaborative the health care teams are, how you get to know so many different people in the hospital on a first-name basis, and being able to get quality time with patients. Beginning residency is a vulnerable time in your career, but Resurrection has made me feel really supported—I know I made the right choice for my Transitional Year!

Why Resurrection: During my interview day at Resurrection, the culture immediately stood out to me. Everyone I met was incredibly welcoming, approachable, and genuinely happy to be there, one resident even told me, “Resurrection is the best TY in the country!” The emphasis on resident well-being was evident throughout the day. The strong sense of camaraderie and kindness left a lasting impression on me and made Resurrection a place where I was very excited to train.

Medical School: University of Michigan Medical School
Specialty + Institution: Diagnostic Radiology at Stanford Health Care
About me: As a Chicago native, I am very excited to be back home before making a big move to California! I’ve lived in northern suburbs, the city, and had a very special experience getting to know the South Side during my time at University of Chicago where I studied Biology and Molecular Engineering. Go Blue forever! My experiences at UMMS were incredible and I feel that the clinical education was unparalleled. My interests in radiology include innovation on nanotechnology in imaging and treatment, participating in the ACR, and recruiting the next generation of radiologists. Outside of medicine, I am a dancer! My special ability is being able to get anyone—beginners and shy people especially—to join me in dancing.
Why Resurrection: I chose Resurrection because this was one of the hospitals where my family friends were treated while growing up in Park Ridge. This is a program run mostly by family medicine, and this was a huge positive for me because I value the way they holistically approach patients and maintain long-term relationships. The faculty are compassionate, my co-residents are incredibly supportive, and the culture of the program prioritizes resident wellness. The combination of these things makes one of the best TY programs in the country! I feel confident that I will be prepared for the next chapter of my training in radiology.
Medical School: Loyola University
Specialty + Institution: Diagnostic Radiology, Loyola
About me: I am the youngest of four children and was born and raised in Benicia, CA (Bay Area) before moving to Houston for high school. After college at Notre Dame, I worked in public health research in Seattle before starting medical school at Loyola in 2022. I’ve lived in Wicker Park, West Town, and River North, and have lots of opinions on different neighborhoods and where to find the best burger/chicken sandwich/tavern style pizza. Outside of work, I obsess over Notre Dame football, my current (bad) reality TV show, and making crafts (filling my apartment with clutter).
Why Resurrection: One of my best friends completed her TY at Resurrection and could not recommend the program strongly enough. Every time I asked, she was not only surviving intern year, but thriving due to the support of Dr. Stephan, Sierra, and her classmates. My interview day only affirmed that program leadership wanted well-rounded, friendly interns who were thoughtful and committed to serving their patients inside and outside the hospital. Since starting, I’ve found the program to provide a strong support system, a welcoming environment, and a flexible elective schedule to make the most out of my year before starting radiology residency.
