Welcome to the Resurrection Medical Center Transitional Year Residency Program
We are an ACGME-accredited program with a long history of providing excellent and broad-based first-year postgraduate medical training for physicians preparing for residency programs in specialties including radiology, radiation oncology, ophthalmology, anesthesiology, dermatology, physical and rehabilitation medicine, and other disciplines.
Resurrection Medical Center is a tertiary-care community hospital located on the far northwest side of Chicago. It offers a wide range of services, including an open-heart surgery program, on-site inpatient rehabilitation and hospice units, a cancer center, and an emergency department that provides service to a large area that includes O’Hare International Airport, one of the world’s busiest. Graduate and undergraduate medical education has been part of the fabric of Resurrection Medical Center since its founding in 1953.
The Transitional Year program is co-sponsored by the institution’s Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine Residency Programs. Major university affiliations include Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and Midwestern University. Residents and students from these schools rotate through Resurrection Medical Center.
The curriculum is designed to provide the transitional year resident with a solid foundation for subsequent specialty training. Residents work very closely with a dedicated attending staff and are afforded a high degree of responsibility in a collegial atmosphere.
