Welcome to Our Program

Our Transitional Year Residency is an ACGME-accredited program that provides outstanding, broad-based postgraduate year one (PGY-1) training. It is designed for physicians preparing for advanced residency programs in specialties such as radiology, radiation oncology, ophthalmology, anesthesiology, dermatology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and other disciplines.

Our Mission

We maintain a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment, graduating respectful, competent, and confident specialists who are mindful of cultural diversity, resource stewardship, and equity in patient care. Our residents’ education emphasizes community service and prepares them to care for a wide range of patients — including diverse urban, suburban, and geriatric populations, as well as domestic and international travelers — given our proximity to O’Hare International Airport.

Program by the Numbers

  • 1985 – Program was established, ACGME accredited
  • 14 – Total residents per year
  • 1 Year – Training focused on core clinical skills and specialty preparation
  • 100% –  Match rate into categorical residency specialties after graduation
