  • Spinal infection

  • Spinal instability (spondylolisthesis)

  • Spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal)

  • Spinal tumor

  • Spondylosis (age-related degeneration of the spine)

Some brain or cerebrovascular conditions we treat include:

  • Acute ischemic stroke

  • Brain aneurysm

  • Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) / arteriovenous fistula (AVF)

  • Carotid artery disease

  • Cerebral venous thrombosis

  • Brain tumors and skull base lesions

Minimally invasive spine & advanced brain surgery

Our experienced neurosurgeons use the latest minimally invasive spine techniques and full spectrum neurosurgical procedures for both brain and spine. Smaller incisions, less pain, faster recovery—when appropriate.
Types of spine and neurosurgical procedures include:

  • Cervical spine surgery

  • Disc replacement

  • Lumbar spine surgery

  • Minimally invasive spine surgery

  • Peripheral nerve surgery

  • Removal of spinal tumors

  • Scoliosis surgery

  • Spinal cord stimulation

Frequently asked questions

What makes Resurrection Medical Center a Comprehensive Stroke Center?

Resurrection Medical Center is DNV-accredited as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, the highest level of stroke certification available. This means we’re equipped to diagnose and treat even the most complex stroke cases with 24/7 access to advanced imaging, neuroendovascular procedures, neurosurgery, and specialized stroke care. Our team also earned the American Heart Association Gold Plus Award, recognizing our consistent excellence in rapid, evidence-based stroke treatment and patient outcomes.

What neuroendovascular procedures are available for stroke and brain vessel conditions?

Our Neuro-Endovascular & Stroke Team offers advanced, minimally invasive procedures performed inside the blood vessels of the brain and spine. These include mechanical thrombectomy for emergent stroke rescue, endovascular coil embolization for aneurysms, carotid artery stenting for carotid disease, and treatment of arteriovenous malformations (AVM), arteriovenous fistulas (AVF), and cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT). These life-saving techniques help restore blood flow and prevent future neurological damage with shorter recovery times.

What should I do if I think I or someone else is having a stroke?

If you suspect a stroke, act immediatelytime is brain. Use the BE FAST method:

  • B – Balance: Sudden loss of balance

  • E – Eyes: Blurred or double vision

  • F – Face: Drooping or uneven smile

  • A – Arms: Weakness or numbness in one arm

  • S – Speech: Slurred or strange speech

  • T – Time: Call 911 right away

Do not wait for symptoms to improve. Resurrection Medical Center’s stroke team is available 24/7 for emergency stroke rescue and can be reached through our Urgent Transfer Line at 877-463-1212.

What’s the difference between back pain and neck pain?

Both back and neck pain can result from problems in the spine, but they often affect different areas and have different causes.

  • Neck pain usually stems from conditions in the cervical spine — such as a herniated disc, cervical disc degeneration, or muscle strain — and can sometimes radiate to the shoulders or arms.

  • Back pain typically involves the lumbar or thoracic spine and may cause stiffness, muscle spasms, or pain radiating into the legs (sciatica).

If your pain persists despite rest, medication, or physical therapy, you may benefit from an evaluation with one of our spine specialists to determine whether minimally invasive spine surgery or another treatment option is right for you.

What are the warning signs that I might need spine surgery?

Spine surgery may be considered if you experience chronic neck or back pain that hasn’t improved with conservative treatments such as medications, injections, or physical therapy. Other warning signs include numbness, tingling, or weakness in your arms or legs, loss of coordination, or difficulty walking. If you notice these symptoms, our neurosurgery team can evaluate your condition and discuss minimally invasive options designed to relieve pain and improve mobility with faster recovery times.

What makes minimally invasive spine surgery different from traditional surgery?

Minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) uses smaller incisions and advanced imaging technology to access the spine with less disruption to surrounding muscles and tissue. Compared with traditional open surgery, MISS typically results in less pain, minimal scarring, lower risk of infection, and a quicker recovery. Our surgeons at Resurrection Medical Center specialize in these advanced procedures to help you return to your normal activities as safely and quickly as possible.
